A personal hut - Workshop at Academy of Art Berlin Weissensee

May 2012

Inivited to host a workshop at the Textile Design department at Academy of Art Berlin Weissensee, the assignment ' A personal hut' was given. During three days the students were supposed to develop a hut, structure, surface... that would be able cover themselves. At the last days all 'huts' were captured in the studio by photo and film. This is a compilation of the outcomes.

A hut that reflects your personality, a space where you feel comfortable. This will be an object that presents the material collection you will make during the work- shop. You will create the huts character to highlight the collection’s identity. Consider how your hut will look like? Does it have a specific theme and how will you express it? How will the materials be processed? Think about dyeing, stitching, folding, cutting, printing... Think about the feeling that the materials will express? What do you want to tell?

The 'huts' are made by Irita Ozolina, Franziska Land, Lisa Eichas & Sophie Küsswetter, Marina Wilhelm, Margaret Waiyego Zollinger, Li Joy.

would you live here??

Take a disused water tower on an old manor house's estate, a local council who had no need for it, a landscape designer who had a vision and an architect who made it happen. 6 storeys of bachelor pad now rises from the grounds surrounded by woodlands and encroaching suburbia. To complete the unlikely dream a meandering brook runs by the foot of the tower. A switcheroo on the Rapuntzel fairytale, the landscape architect now sits in his tower perhaps waiting for his princess? The Water Tower at Brasschaat, just outside Antwerp by Crepain Binst Architecture.
ill own a barn like this one day
Rustic barn meets exuberance and style. Quirky meets practicality. Concrete and chandeliers, modern art and aged oak beams. A barn conversion in Burgundy by Joséphine Gintzburger is pastoral perfection. It's rough luxe and bucolic drama and all the modern comforts. A weekend retreat to be shared with family and friends.
