NEW FAVE ARTIST

Robin Cameron, Artist

robin-cRobin Cameron takes the time to process, practice, and play. Collected here are many of Cameron’s works in ‘Process’ (as categorized on her website), a glimpse of the way she studies her objects, moves them around, and explores their range of reactions to the many mediums she works in, from clay to 16mm film. Cameron states she’s “interested in the work of Romantic Conceptualists, and the extent to which conceptual art, or any art object, can carry emotion.” She lives and works in NYC.

Artist: Boo Ritson

British artist Boo Ritson daubs her subjects with paint before photographing them, giving an uncanny final effect, which is visually very fun but has darker undertones about "social masks and suffocating veneers." We love the originality of the idea, the 'pop art' vibrancy, and although we're not exactly sure what it is that's so effective (and slightly haunting) about painting people then immortalising them in photographs, it definitely does something for us

lucy orta

my best friend introduced me to lucy orta after my discussion on an concept of making a tent.. i then found these cloud works which fascinated and inspired..

Cloud - Window on the World
window on the world

Concept: The cloud is an intermediary between two worlds. Its airy lightness and gas give free rein to the architectural imagination, whilst its liquid composition returns it to earth. The cloud, by virtue of its ubiquity, is an intercessor between reality and imagination, between heaven and earth, light and gravity. The absence of a stable form, which characterizes the cloud, is a powerful concept that embodies, with its dreams, the designs for an ideal society. Playing on its metamorphoses, it can convey, in the mode of fable, a more political message without gravity. Here, the message focuses on water, from which clouds are constituted, by asking how humans will share this resource on earth. Philipe Potié

During a research trip to Cairo, Egypt in 2009 Lucy + Jorge Orta visited the Zabbaleen community who live on the garbage mountain of Moqattam. 65,000 people live off this refuse sorting, sifting, classifying the city’s waste: bottles, plastic jerry cans, fabric, cardboard. Reflecting on the sheer volume of the debris and in particular the plastic water container, they began assembling recycled water bottles. The resulting Cloud sculptures are the second phase of their project OrtaWater where the artists' research shifts from water distribution to that of the consumer object: on the one hand a vital commodity for the recycling community and on the other a disastrous pollutant on the environment. "Assembled with thousands of found water bottles, the resin contours of these new organic shapes create crevices and shadows of their former identity. Objects are incrusted into in these strange organic structures: remnants of a former household, a fisherman's boat, ladder, bicycle, chair. Clouds are reminders of the cycles and fragility of life.” Lucy Orta\

i am in love with these large bulbous vibrantly colourful sculptures of franz west, friendly in form, rough and tactile like papier maches, interactive and cobbled together. franz started making crude drawings and then collage...

just discovered the work of Jonas wood. really like how his paintings consists of small single colour section that add up to a bright painting. almost have a comic feel. subjects are pretty mundane like a poorly taken photograph but the brightness of the painting turns the ordinary into the extraordinary

Delighted with: Pluto's planetary status, all things that begin as a seed, shades of white, dogs that observe sunset, sly optimists, fixed luminous points in a night sky, heroic love, migration, conversations about inflation, and forgetting punctuation.
me when i was happy. (before you broke my heART)

love it so amazing
